FRANSCHHOEK, SOUTH AFRICA

This property was established by a French Huguenot family in 1694 and its history is deeply rooted in the rich African soil that surrounds it. Gracefully governing the setting is the original 18th Century Manor House.

Guests can dine at The Restaurant, their delicious food accompanied by some of the Estate’s own Angels Tears and Grande Provence Wines.

Wine tasting and cellar sales make it possible to enjoy these same wines with family and friends at home.

Huka Lodge features once more as a winner in Condé Nast Traveller’s Gold List 2006.

This time the award was for the Best Hotels for Rooms category in Australasia and South Pacific. We were voted top hotel with a score of 95.56% out of a possible 100%.

Huka Lodge was the only New Zealand property to appear in the prestigious Travel + Leisure Top 500 list, released in January 2006. It is described in the Top 500 list as a ‘Bewitching mix of escapist luxury and a rustic setting.’

The recently refurbished Owner’s Cottage continues to enjoy high occupancy and provide a stunning addition to the property.

This completely self-contained cottage guarantees total privacy and an exclusive hospitality experience for a private party or family group. Of course every Huka Lodge amenity is just a few minutes away should you tire of the perfect peace and quiet or the beautiful riverside views.
